COLCHESTER Royal Grammar School's badminton teams have been crowned Essex champions.
Both the school's Year 7, 8 and 9 and Year 10 and 11 teams were victorious, at the County Championships.
They beat the much-vaunted Loughton-based Davenant Foundation School in the final, to be crowned champions.
The success at county level has given the boys the opportunity to play in the Eastern Region Final, later this year.
The Year 7, 8 and 9 team was made up of Arav Swati Abhay, Brian Chan, Saif Rahman, Arnav Thayur and Hassam Zahid, while the Year 10 and 11 team consisted of Praneesh Kathirval, Jason Chan, Anath Srinivasan, Matt Johnson and Nikith Thumalapenta.
They had battled through the North East Essex competition to emerge as champions and go forward to represent the district, at the County Championships.
