It was a weekend to forget for Jesse Trayler as the MSS Colchester Kawasaki rider suffered an “absolute nightmare” in round eight of the Pirelli National Superstock 1000 Championship at Cadwell Park in Lincolnshire.

The rider from Great Dunmow was hoping to continue the successes that he had enjoyed in the previous few rounds when he had finished second at Brands Hatch, fourth at Knockhill and eighth at Thruxton to move up to fifth in the overall standings.

However, problems with his MSS Colchester Kawasaki ZX-10R bike meant he could only manage 28th place in Cadwell Park qualifying with a time of one minute 32.3 seconds around the 2.2-mile circuit.

All the snags had been resolved by the time the race started, but it left Trayler with a lot to do.

He had a storming start, though, moving up into 16th place but lap two was to see the race red flagged due to an incident at the mountain.

A 30-minute delay ensued, but Trayler was straight on the pace again when racing resumed and a top-ten finish looked likely.

However, he pushed a little bit too much and as he went round the Charlies 1 bend he suffered a high-side crash which put him out of the race.

Trayler said: “We had a lot of problems with the bike over the weekend and through qualifying.

“It was all sorted for the race, but I then high-sided at Charlies 1 – absolute nightmare.”

He is now fifth in the championship standings on 75 points and will return to action at the start of October at Oulton Park in Cheshire.
