PROUD chairman Michael Good has reflected on a golden season for Little Oakley Football Club.

The Acorns’ first team won the Border League Knockout Cup and finished as premier division runners-up, while their reserves secured a top-three finish in division one and lifted the Tommy Thompson Cup.

“It’s been our most successful season for years,” said proud chairman Good, following the club’s end-of-term presentation dinner, at the Cliff Hotel.

“Much of the credit has to go to (joint first-team managers) Paul Sadler and Sean Tynan, supported by (reserve-team managers) Gary Kioussis and Paul Beasley.

“The strategy and infrastructure we’ve put in place over many years has reaped its rewards.

“And the commitment and loyalty of our players, managers, coaches, volunteers and supporters has been invaluable to the club as we continue to progress.

“We have two squads full of young players wanting to improve and hungry for success.

“The first-team squad finished the season with six players having come through the youth system, plus another four who have played for the club since the age of 16.”
