Colchester United manager Tony Humes described his side’s 1-0 win at Yeovil Town as “massive” after they claimed a valuable three points at Huish Park.

Craig Eastmond’s second-half strike was enough to earn the U’s a precious victory and end a run of five successive league defeats.

U's goalkeeper and former Yeovil loanee Sam Walker made a number of key saves for Colchester, as they secured their first away league win since September.

Humes said: “It was a massive win for us.

“We dealt with things very well and limited them to scraps.

“I’m obviously delighted with the three points and it was a great team performance – that’s the main thing.

“We needed a performance – we’ve shown at times that we can play and we can pass the ball.

“I thought that we showed that at times in the first half and pass it and play when we’re under a lot pressure.

“There have been questions whether we can do it when the game has got physical and direct and every single player stood up to it.

“We wanted to come here to compete and be solid and get something from the game.

“We needed a result of some description for the players’ belief and confidence and I thought we worked our socks off.

“Whether we deserved it or not, I don’t really care – we got a much-valued win.”
