New signing Will Packwood has made keeping clean sheets his top priority during his time at Colchester United.

The 6ft 3in centre-back has arrived on loan from Championship side Birmingham City, after the U’s were rocked by injuries to Magnus Okuonghae and Frankie Kent.

Packwood, who has signed for Colchester until January 1, has found his first-team opportunities limited at St Andrews so far this season.

The 21-year-old, who trained with his new team-mates for the first time at Shrub End yesterday, is keen to make an impression with the U’s.

And he would dearly love to help them rediscover the impressive defensive form they showed in the early part of Tony Humes’ reign.

Colchester have shipped 11 goals in their last five games and have failed to keep a clean sheet in ten matches.
