Colchester United have signed Cardiff City striker Rhys Healey on loan until December.

And it was a case of one in, two out for the U's with forwards Dan Holman and Nnamdi Nwachuku leaving the club on loan.

Healey, who made his Bluebirds debut on the final day of last season against Chelsea, has linked up with the U's after joining them on a three-month loan today.

The 20-year-old, who signed for Cardiff in January 2013 following some impressive performances in the Welsh Premier League for Connah's Quay.

The Manchester-born striker scored 15 goals for Cardiff's under-21 side last season and netted twice in their 2-1 victory over rivals Swansea City, on Monday.

Healey said: "I can't wait to get going and get some experience under my belt and to show people my ability."

Meanwhile, Holman is set to tie up a one-month loan switch to Conference Premier side Wrexham.

The former Braintree Town striker has found his first-team opportunities limited since joining the U's from the Iron, earlier this summer.

Holman will now be looking to get some valuable match-time at Wrexham, for whom he could make his debut against Chester City on Monday night.

U's boss Tony Humes said: "We spoke to Dan and said that we'd like to get him out to play some football, as he wasn't currently in our first team.

"We circulated his details for loan and Wrexham made contact with us on Thursday and we've agreed to let him go out, once that international clearance is received.

"We wanted to get him out at a good level, to make sure that it was a test and a challenge for him."

Meanwhile, young striker Nwachuku has joined Ryman Premier side Leiston on a month's loan.

Nwachuku, who will play for former U's player Steve Ball who is manager of the Suffolk side, has already spent one loan spell at Leiston.
