I AM assisting my friend with her quest to discover her English roots and early life of her father. She and her siblings were young children when their father died.
Bert Cook (born 1897 or 98) and his brother Ernest (born about 1893) were Barnardo boys who went to Canada in 1906.
Ernest was killed in an accident in 1915. Bert joined the Canadian Army and served overseas in the First World War.
During that time he reconnected with family, in particular his sisters Ada and Irene who were living in Westcliff at the time. There are other siblings, but we only have one other name, Henry, of London.
There is no information on the parents. Bert returned to Canada, married, and died in 1962, leaving behind a young family.
Ada, became Mrs Ted Simpson. During the First World War she was unmarried, had RNS written after her name (naval or nursing sister) and lived at Southview Drive and also Westcliff Park Drive.
The family is eager to make contact with Ada’s or any other Cook family members. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
