A CARE home in Colchester has celebrated a huge milestone birthday with friends, relatives and members of the community.

Care UK’s Tall Trees, in Oaks Place, enjoyed a fun-filled 1950s-themed afternoon as it marked 30 years.

To mark the milestone, ward councillor Martin Goss also joined home manager, Alice Banda to help unveil a commemorative plaque.

Tall Trees provides full-time residential, nursing, dementia, and short-term respite care.

The care home incorporates space for hobby and leisure activities and includes its own café and dedicated Namaste room.

Since opening in 1994, the care home has built strong relationships with the community, including schools and nurseries.

Over the years, the home has won numerous awards thanks to the team’s strong focus on person-centred care – as well as being crowned the 2022 winners of a local care home bake-off.

Marking the special occasion, everyone enjoyed live entertainment from local group, Mini Concerts, who performed a range of 50s classics.

To help refuel after an afternoon of dancing, the home’s catering team prepared a range of tasty canapes and delicious drinks.

Ms Banda said: “It was lovely to see the residents, their families and the community come together to celebrate three decades of Tall Trees.

“The team worked so hard to make the day a special one and it certainly paid off.

"Everyone had a wonderful time and the party was a fantastic opportunity for residents to spend quality time with family and friends, as well as to meet new faces.

"We’d also like to say a huge thank you to councillor Martin Goss for joining us for the occasion too."

“The last 30  years have been full of exciting trips, building new relationships and, most importantly, creating lasting memories for those who live here.

"I’d like to take this opportunity to say a huge thank you to everyone who helps to make Tall Trees a wonderful place to call home – here’s to the next 30 happy years.”
