It's by no means recent, but Colchester's impressive scene for music, arts, and culture continues to grow.

I've showcased thousands of events through the Keep Colchester Cool project I launched in 2009.

Now, I'll bring the best events to you each week which I recommend checking out.

Gazette: Ben Howard

Marcel Lucont: Les Enfants Terribles: A gameshow for awful children will take place at Colchester Arts Centre on Saturday with doors opening at 1.30pm.

The winner of Best Kids Show at Leicester Comedy Festival and UK Kids Comedy Festival pits children against adults and each other to try and find the most awful child.

Children get to experience being politicians, pests, and petomanes to win the badge of dishonour.

Tickets cost £10, £8 for concessions or £30 for a family ticket.

Colchester EMOM - an electronic music open mic evening - will take place at The Commons at The Minories on Saturday with doors opening at 7pm and free entry.

During the event, held in celebration of its first birthday party, you'll hear original live sets from Qubik, Alphabox, Last Days of Living, Kate Mahoney, Substruck, Bada Düüm, Colchester Electrophonic Collective and Modern Electronics.

Indie rockers Lost Movies will perform at the Queen Street Brewhouse, also on Saturday, with the free-to-attend evening starting at 8pm.

Featuring ex-members of Absent Kid, the group will host their Lost in Thought Single Release Party at the venue.

Support comes via Everywhere Is Haunted and Jess Davey.

And finally, Little Camp Cabaret will take place at Coda next Tuesday.

The fundraiser, organised by the Colchester Pride team, features some of Colchester's most prominent local LGBTQ+ performers, including Tracey Paper, Sirena Hart, Shar Cooterie, Aria Close, and more.

Doors open 7pm and tickets cost £8.

These are just some of the many events in Colchester over the week ahead. You can find out more by visiting keepcolchestercool.co.uk.
