A UNIQUE band which honours two of the most iconic music acts of the 20th century rocked a Colchester venue on what was an extremely fun night.

Elvana, a tribute act which combines the music of the 50s archetype rockstar, Elvis Presley, and the 90s grunge pioneering band, Nirvana, headlined Charter Hall.

Elvana: Elvis Fronted Nirvana has become famous for its entertaining and theatrical live shows and has graced Leicestershire’s Download Festival and big stages across the world.

For the group’s first ever time in Colchester, they put on a spectacular show full of amusing quips, costume changes, and musical renditions.

Shortly after 9pm, the Elvana band, all dressed like high school students out of Nirvana’s renowned Smells Like Teen Spirit music video, took to the stage as Grease Is The Word by The Four Seasons played.

The most entertaining part of the show was seeing how masterfully Elvana could combine two completely different bands with such ease and precision.

After the band kicked into Nirvana’s Dive, the frontman of the group, aptly named ‘The King’, bounded onto the stage wearing a full-on Elvis inspired outfit - the first outfit of the night.

During the song, the band succinctly flipped the atmosphere on its head and broke into Elvis Presley’s Devil In Disguise.

It was an extremely thrilling spectacle to watch, and this continued throughout the night with a collection of different hits from both acts.

It’s impressive given the fact the frontman could belt out bluesy rock vocals like Elvis one minute and then Kurt Cobain-esque vocals the next.

The King said on stage: "Are you looking for trouble Colchester?" before group performed a combination of Elvis’s Trouble and Nirvana’s Stay Away.

Throughout the night, meanwhile, he said: “We are Elvana from 'disgraceland’.

“This is our first time in Colchester and you all look beautiful.”

“If you’re lucky Colchester, I may sound like Kurt Cobain but most of the time I do not sound like Elvis f**ing Presley.”

It was fantastic to hear big Elvis hits like Hound Dog, Always On My Mind, Viva Las Vegas, Suspicious Minds, and Heartbreak Hotel.

Alongside this, fans of Nirvana were treated to an array of exceptional songs like In Bloom, Breed, Smells Like Teen Spirit, Come As You Are, Heart Shaped Box, Lithium, and more.

Throughout the night there were numerous costume changes and plenty of entertaining audience interaction.

After thanking the Colchester audience, the show ended just after 10.50pm.

Few bands have the stage presence or charisma to make a standing audience at Charter Hall jump up and down in elation - but Elvana certainly did.
