A COLCHESTER car dealership now has a bleed kit in place after being inspired to take action by a knife crime campaigner.
Porsche Centre was presented the lifeline equipment by Julie Taylor, whose grandson Liam, 19, died after being stabbed in Writtle in January 2020.
The kit helps to keep blood at bay following a stabbing and buy vital minutes while paramedics rush to the scene.
Bosses at the dealership, off Ipswich Road in Colchester, met Mrs Taylor during a fundraiser at Maldon Mud Race.
A statement reads: “[She] tirelessly raises awareness of the dangers of carrying a knife and the devastation it brings to families, such as her own.
“We were grateful to be presented with a catastrophic bleed kit, which we now keep in a prominent position in the showroom.”
The dealership announced receipt of the bleed kit while the Knife Angel is in place in Colchester city centre.
The striking sculpture is made of 100,000 seized blades and was designed as a memorial for the victims of knife crime.
Colchester Council said it hopes the Angel starts difficult conversations about the issue.
