A MAN was rushed to hospital after being stabbed in the early hours of the morning.

Police officers were called to Mersea Road, Colchester, between St Botolph’s Circus and Napier Road, at about 2am on Thursday, September 7 after receiving reports a man had sustained stab wounds to his leg.

He was taken to hospital with injuries which were not deemed to be life-threatening or life-changing.

Essex Police confirmed an investigation has been launched and detectives have released an image of a man they would like to speak with.

A spokesman for the force said: “We are appealing for the public’s help to identify this man in connection with an ongoing investigation into an assault in Colchester.

“Officers were called to Mersea Road in Colchester at around 2am on September 7 following reports of a man sustaining stab wounds to his leg.”

He continued: “This assault has remained under investigation and officers are now appealing to the public for their help in identifying this man, who we would like to speak with.

“If you recognise him, or have any further information which could assist, please contact us quoting reference number 42/159530/23.”
