A KIND-HEARTED Colchester schoolgirl has braved the chop to support children living with cancer.

Annamae Douglas, nine, generously sacrificed 12 inches of her long locks to help The Little Princess Trust create wigs to give hope to youngsters who have lost their hair through cancer treatment.

After realising the impact her kindness would have, Annamae decided to double the amount of hair she was donating and embarked on a fundraising mission to cover the cost of transforming her hair into a wig.

Proud mum Tania Stacey said: “At first I thought it was quite a lot of hair to cut off and I didn’t think she’d want to do it but because she’s raised money she was really up for it.

“I’m so overwhelmed and very proud of a little girl who was only meant to have six inches off her hair but has gone to the extreme with 12 inches and more.

“My children are very kind and they always want to help. I’ve had friends whose children have had to wear wigs and when Annamae saw a photo she realised she’s so lucky to have her hair.”

Having raised more than £550 so far, the schoolgirl has almost hit her £700 target which would be enough for the charity to make one wig.
