COLCHESTER Zoo is calling on the public to choose the names of its new penguin fledglings after their gender was finally revealed.
Zookeepers at the Maldon Road attraction are looking to name two female Humboldt Penguin fledglings after receiving eagerly-awaited DNA results to establish their gender.
Over the past few months, the fledglings have been swimming in a pool at the zoo and forming a relationship with the Animal Care Team.

Workers are now looking to give the penguins 'spicy' names in an ode to their parents, Chilli and Pepper - and they want the public's help.
A spokesman for Colchester Zoo's Animal Care Team said: "As two penguin fledglings continue to grow into their feathers, we need your help choosing their names.
"With mum and dad named Chilli and Pepper, it was only right for us to follow their parent’s footsteps, therefore shortlisted the following names; Jalapeno, Serrano, Ghost and Tabasco.
"Let us know your favourites in the Facebook comments and we’ll announce the chosen names."
The names will be revealed tomorrow.
