A HAIR salon is set to donate all of the proceeds from one day of work to a woman battling cancer.

Pure Hair Salon in Colchester is rallying behind Kimberley O'Donnell, who was diagnosed with Cholangiocarcinoma in November 2019.

The salon's owner, Charmaine Piche, along with her entire team, has generously decided to donate all of the proceeds from that day to Kim's Chemotherapy Fund.

It will take place on Sunday, july 16.

The initiative was sparked after a recent news story shed light on Kimberley's ongoing struggle with cancer and her need for financial assistance to cover the costs of chemotherapy treatments.

Kimberley's friends and family quickly mobilised to help her, and Pure Hair Salon stepped up to the plate, offering their premises and services for a day dedicated to raising funds.

The response from the community has been overwhelming, with numerous clients booking appointments to show their support.

The salon has already filled its schedule, with hairdressers, a nail technician, and a reflexologist all volunteering their time and skills.

Each appointment will contribute to the chemotherapy fund, ensuring that every penny goes toward helping Kimberley in her fight against cancer.

Kim, of Tollesbury, underwent her first operation in December 2020, a liver and Whipple resection, with the surgeon removing 30 per cent of her liver, a 5cm tumour, gall bladder and the majority of her lymph nodes.

Tests following the surgery confirmed her diagnosis of bile duct cancer in the liver.

From March to August 2021, Kim took part in a sixth month chemotherapy trial.

After the course of treatment, she was declared cancer-free, having scans every two months.

She decided life was short so she then made it her mission to live life to the fullest.

However, a scan on March 3, 2022, revealed that her cancer had returned and moved into her peritoneum, the large membrane in the abdominal cavity which connects and supports internal organs.
