Colchester church decorated with flowers for King's coronation

St. Michael's, in Myland, is getting ready to mark the historic coronation of King Charles III.

Ahead of the big day, the community has produced a colourful flower display inside the church. 

The flowers have been handmade by members of the church congregation, family and friends, and students at the Myland Pre School.

Beavers, Cubs and Scouts from First Myland Scouts, First Myland Brownies and The Well Methodist Church have also all contributed.

Sarah King, office administrator at St. Michael’s, said: "It has been a real community effort.

"It took several weeks for our community to make all of the flowers and a good few hours to put the final display together.

"We have had such a lovely time creating the display.

"There were over 50 people in the church at one point and so many people have commented on how lovely the display is.

"All flowers were handmade - some are knitted and crocheted [and others are made of] paper, felt and tissue.

"There is also a handmade crown and we have created an admiring window display."

The church will be open on May 8, between 10am and 2pm, and on May 13, between 10am and 12am. 

There will be coffee and cake available on all dates.
