THE jury in the trial of two men accused of county lines drug dealing in Colchester has been discharged.

Claudio Fonseca and Hassan Ira were allegedly involved in the supply of crack cocaine and heroin in the city over a period of six months using the “CJ” drug line, Ipswich Crown Court heard.

Stephen Mather, prosecuting, claimed the men had travelled from London to Colchester on a number of occasions to deal drugs.

The court heard that following Fonseca’s arrest in Colchester and Ira’s arrest at a property in Hackney, drugs and drug paraphernalia were allegedly seized.

Mr Mather said both men claimed they were forced to deal drugs.

Fonseca, 21, of Parkside Estate, London, and Ira, 21, of The Phillipers, Watford, both denied being concerned in the supply of cocaine and heroin between March 22 and October 6 last year and possession of cocaine and heroin with intent to supply on October 5 last year.

They also both denied possessing criminal property, namely cash.

The court has heard that a third man - Joseph Lawson, 21, of Northwold Road, London - has admitted allowing his premises to be used for the supply of class A drugs.

The jury was discharged on Friday (March 31) and a retrial will take place in September.
