A former soldier left a woman feeling "distressed and harassed" after becoming abusive and urinating in front of her.

Jordan Scobbie was standing on a pontoon at the King Edward Quay, at the Hythe in Colchester, when he became abusive to the woman and tried to pick a fight with her friends.

During the incident, which last 30 minutes, the 26-year-old also undid his trousers to urinate and said he didn't care when the woman said she was going to call the police.

The court heard that the incident, which took place in the early hours of July 26, 2020,  had left the woman feeling "distressed and harassed", with Scobbie causing trouble at the Quay and refusing to leave when asked by the woman.

Scobbie, who now lives in Seaforth Road, Falkirk, admitted using threatening words and behaviour and was given a 12-month community order, a ten-day rehabilitation activity requirement and ordered to 180 hours unpaid work.

He was also ordered to pay £700 prosecution costs.

Donal Lawlor, mitigating for Scobbie, said his client, who had now left the army and had a new job, had acted in the way he did after drinking too much.
