FIRE crews battled a fire which had spread to three sheds in Halstead.
One crew was sent to Bois Field Terrace at 6.29pm last night after reports of a fire in a hedge.
While en route to the scene the officer in charge requested a second fire engine due to the large plume of smoke which could be seen from the fire station.
When crews arrived, they found three sheds, a fence and a row of hedges well alight. The fire was also affecting a telephone line.
Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire using one main jet and one hose reel jet by 7.25pm.
