A CLACTON school is set for a major expansion as part of a huge scheme to create more school places.

Ravens Academy will get 142 new places as part of multi-million pound plans launched by Essex County Council to meet demand.

The council has agreed to include £364million in its budget, which will be spent on increasing school places over the next three years.

That cash will be spent on extending existing schools across the county, as well as building new centres.

County council education boss Ray Gooding said: “Essex is growing rapidly and the demand for school places in the county is also continuing to rise.

“We have a fantastic track record of investing significant funds to ensure we have the spaces needed to meet that demand and these proposals illustrate our continued commitment to that.”

No completion date for the Clacton expansion has been confirmed yet.
