A POLISH driver was arrested after seven suspected illegal immigrants fled from a lorry in Clacton.

The group of four men and three woman were spotted running from the scene as the lorry arrived in Old Road.

It is believed the lorry was making a delivering to a company in the road.

A spokesman for Essex Police said: “A man was arrested on suspicion of facilitating illegal entry after the number of people were seen to flee a lorry in Old Road.

“A total of four men and three women are believed to have run off after the rear doors of the lorry were opened.

“They have not been traced.”

A Polish driver, aged 44, was released on police bail pending further enquiries until March 6.
