A BUILDER who nailed his hand to the roof of a house was able to return to work just hours later.
The man in his 30s was taken to Colchester General Hospital after pinning his hand to the rafter of a roof he was working on in Shatters Road, Layer Breton just after 4.30pm on Wednesday.
Fire crews from Colchester and Tiptree attended the scene and used a triple extension ladder to access the roof and specialist cutting equipment to free him from the rafters.
The East of England Ambulance Service sent paramedics to the address to treat the patient who was conscious and alert throughout.
He was taken to Colchester General Hospital for further treatment.
The owner of the property said the builder had been working on the roof when the accident occurred but was able to return to work on Thursday morning at 8am.
