Students have raised £3,500 for a cancer charity.

Chefs at Colchester Institute held an evening at the Stoke by Nayland Hotel, which helped to raise the money for the Real Blokes Cancer Relief UK.

A second event, held at the Balkerne Restaurant, based at the college, raised £3,000. It will go towards buying new equipment for the college’s catering and hospitality department.

The two events gave the college’s professional chefs and students the chance to show off their skills.

Ian Perkins, programme manager at Colchester Institute, said: “It gave students an insight into producing highquality food for large functions.”
